2. Get Good Gear
You don’t need a DSLR camera if you have a modern smartphone, thanks to the excellent cameras within. However, DSLR cameras provide some remarkable benefits. Any budding photographer needs the opportunity to play around with their vacation images using various settings.
Many factors, such as image clarity, focus points, bokeh, and extended exposure, come into play with DSLR cameras. It facilitates taking stunning photographs. When we first started going on vacations, we would sit down and make extensive itineraries in Excel. Traveling across Italy for ten days would be jam-packed with visits to the Eternal City, the Amalfi Coast, Florence, Venice, and Tuscany. You can see as much as possible in a short amount of time, but trust me when I say that your photography will suffer as a result.
Photography is a slow process. We went to Bali, Indonesia’s Tukad Cepung waterfall not too long ago. One of our favorite spots on Bali is beside this waterfall. It’s also rather cramped, so even a party of 10 could feel uncomfortable there. It requires patience to get the desired result. The average visitor stays for less than half an hour before moving on. Nearly two hours passed while we were there. Getting the ideal lighting, playing around with different camera angles, and waiting for people to get out of the way may be time consuming.
Your picture-taking skills will improve even if you have to skip some tourist attractions.
7. Photograph in Manual Mode
This should be the most important takeaway from the rest of the article. Mastering manual mode allows the photographer complete creative freedom. In ideal lighting, auto mode may provide acceptable results, however this is rarely the case.
Learning how to shoot in manual mode will allow you to make the necessary adjustments for lighting, even in less-than-ideal conditions. Astrophotography requires the use of manual controls to achieve even passable results. Some of my most cherished photographs are those I took while employing long exposure settings for a surreal effect.
8. Wake Up Early
