The San Francisco 49ers are being lauded for assembling an NFL powerhouse this offseason.
Eric Edholm of NFL.com named the 49ers one of the 10 most complete teams for 2023. San Francisco ranks third behind the Philadelphia Eagles and Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
The Niners may have faced the Chiefs in the Super Bowl if not for NFC Championship game injuries. Why did Edholm rate the Niners third? Examine Edholm's logic.
Javon Hargrave, a three-year Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle, joined the Niners via free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft.
Hargrave had a stellar year with 60 tackles, 11.0 sacks, 16 quarterback hits, 10 tackles-for-loss, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble. Fourth among NFL defensive linemen with 11.0 sacks.
To strengthen the secondary, the Niners drafted nine players, including safety Ji'Ayir Brown. Brown has 10 interceptions in two seasons at Penn State.
Third-round kicker Jake Moody was also notable. Moody, Mitch Wishnowsky, and Taybor Pepper might form the 49ers' specialty trio.
The Niners have impact players everywhere. If the team can fix the quarterback problem quickly, the NFL is in peril.
