After leading them to victory in the playoff final, his triumphant homecoming return has been a tremendous success.
After five losses at Wembley, Simpson, who returned for a second stint in February 2022 and helped Carlisle avoid relegation, finally experienced success there.
"I knew if we ever got there again, my turn would come," Simpson remarked. "The players have been outstanding," said one.
We wanted to have a successful season, but I doubt many people thought we had a chance.
