On Sunday, May 28, the La Salle Green Archers defeated their archrivals the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 72-59, to earn their eighth straight victory in the 2023 FilOil Preaseason Cup.
Mark Nonoy, Joshua David, and Kevin Quiambao each scored 11 points to round out the balanced attack,
which was led by senior playmaker Evan Nelle, who finished with 12 points, 7 assists, and 3 rebounds in 21 minutes.
With a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, explosive forward Michael Phillips made the most of his 20-minute stint as well.
Ateneo's forgettable 0-3 record was led by Kai Ballungay, who scored a game-high 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting.
As Jason Credo struggled to a 7-point performance on a 3-of-12 shooting effort, Ian Espinosa scored 9 points off the bench.
