After defeating bitter rival Ateneo on Sunday in San Juan, 72-59, DE LA SALLE became the first team to secure a place in the Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup quarterfinals.
The Green Archers' offense was directed by seasoned guard Evan Nelle, who scored 12 points and provided seven assists.
He was supported by 11 points from Kevin Quiambao, Mark Nonoy, and Joshua David.
In total, the two teams made 6 of 31 three-point attempts. Nelle and Joshua David were in charge of the re-energized Green Archers during the second half, which saw La Salle defeat Ateneo, 37-28.
Topex Robinson, the La Salle coach, praised his team for making the necessary adjustments in the second half.
"In the opening period, we gave Ateneo numerous chances to make simple baskets.
