Pro Football Focus recently ranked NFL offensive tackle pairs. As expected, the Eagles, Vikings, Lions, and Ravens led. Many believe the Texans should have been included.
Star left tackle Laremy Tunsil felt degraded. Tunsil quoted PFF's tweet with multiple question marks, expressing his astonishment at being excluded.
Tunsil has earned three Pro Bowl berths as a solid tackle. The veteran bookend allowed only one sack in 2022 and received an 80.0 PFF rating.
Howard plays right tackle with Tunsil. Howard has become a solid starter, though not as good as Tunsil.
Howard's best PFF grade was 67.9 in 2022. After being drafted first in 2019, the former Alabama State Hornet has progressed each season in the NFL. Howard was a reach, but he has adjusted to the NFL.
Howard and Tunsil have contract years. If Howard has another good season, the Texans may try to sign him. Houston may be set at tackle for a while.
